Forest 500 Annual Report

Global Canopy

Forest 500 is a Global Canopy project that identifies and ranks the most influential companies and financial institutions in the race towards a deforestation-free global economy. We’ve designed their 2018 and 2019 annual reports which highlight where companies need to do more. The 2019 report made national headlines naming well-known brands who failed to meet environmental commitments. Most recently we’ve designed their 2021 report.

2021 Report

After the success of last year’s report we kept the same styling this year with strong images aligning with key facts and figures. This report shifts away from the previous annual reviews and instead looks forward to 2021 and the work needed to be done to combat deforestation and meet our global targets.

Annual Report 2019

As we entered a new decade Forest 500 held companies to account. It’s clear not enough has been done to eliminate deforestation from supply chains, and throughout the report failings are highlighted. Our designs reflect this hard-hitting approach, using a more photographic style than the previous year. A range of powerful images have been used, combined with important statistics and percentages. These have also been supplied as social media assets so Forest 500 can share the report far and wide.

The report goes into detail on companies falling behind with deforestation free supply chains. These are listed in the Appendix and highlighted in a map which names and shames well known brands across the globe. There’s also an illustrative section showing the forest-risk commodities in our shopping baskets. This was used in the 2019 campaign ‘Unpacking the deforestation risk in your shopping basket’.

The report has had a big impact with many big brands responding to media coverage. You can read more about this in our news item: Who’s Who in deforestation

Annual Report 2018

Different brand colours have been used to separate sections within the report while photography helps create engaging content. We also used Infographic elements to draw attention to key facts and figures. These have also been used as digital social media assets (see our infographics portfolio).

You can see more details on how different companies rank in key areas of timber, palm oil, soy, paper and finance in the full report. And see our portfolio for more infographic images.

“Thanks very much for all your team’s hard work on the Forest 500 report and visuals. We’re really pleased with the results – the chief exec said they were the best Forest 500 launch materials he has seen.”
