The Rainforest Foundation

We were approached by The Rainforest Foundation who had a mission to increase public knowledge of palm oil production and its effects on the environment. According to the organisation 20% of palm oil imported into the UK is used to make biscuits. Their recent report “The Seeds of Destruction” describes how growing demand for the oil is now threatening to devastate the rainforest in the Congo Basin.

Our brief was to raise awareness of the effect biscuit buying habits in this country are having on the rainforest in West Africa. The finished infographic was titled “Crumbs!” and contains some revealing facts about palm oil plantations, animals and indigenous species under threat, as well as listing which biscuit companies source palm oil sustainably and which don’t.
