My Wild City brochure

Avon Wildlife Trust

My Wild City is an initiative that was launched in 2015 to help transform Bristol into a nature reserve full of wildlife corridors and nature-rich spaces. We designed an illustrated brochure for Avon Wildlife Trust along with signage to celebrate the My Wild City project and to encourage more people to take part in the scheme.

The twenty page illustrated brochure includes examples of successful projects throughout Bristol. For workspaces My Wild City celebrates its BBC project. The neat lawns of the BBC Natural History Unit have been replaced with pollinator borders full of wildflowers, gridded ponds, a mini orchard and lush long grass. Meanwhile on Bristol’s famed Gloucester Road, planters surround shop fronts and are used as seats, bike racks and handy for signage. The brochure also includes examples of schools, roof gardens and private gardens where changes have been made. The illustrations combine an architectural and hand-drawn style.

For each project, key points are highlighted with photographs so bright ideas can be replicated throughout Bristol. The Avon Wildlife Trust brand colours were used throughout the brochure and the typography also followed the Trust’s brand guidelines. Angelina hand-written font is used for the sub-headings and Adele as the title font.

“As always the Green Hat team are fabulous to work with and deliver fabulous results.”
